Hans Hemling and Hussar

One day I will own some of Michael Hussar's paintings, or commission him for one. If you don't already know his art, you're missing out. Go here.

The Source of Satan's Vomit

Actually, we're unsure of how we're going to go about naming the entirety of the fonts Greg and I are planning on making in the collection loosely termed "Satan's Vomit". It is basically several sets of fonts (family) that are inspired by heavy metal music and hardcore band logos. I've been looking at a plethora of rock posters for reference, and have noticed a lot of Algerian-esque faces.

Anyway, I think my sketch (above) was the source of it all...?

We already know how we're going to promote the family, though. That's going to be fun to render.

Random Sketches

I plan on using these either as posters or within future posters. Either way, they're interesting to me. They've got a direction about them somehow.

Dir en Grey: The Esoteric Collection

A collaboration on two parts (mine less extensive certainly). Greg is making a Japanese puzzle box for a great Japanese band named Dir en Grey, and he's including a lot of interesting features in the collection. Above is his amazing sketch for an ambigram logo that reads "Dir en Grey" whether it's right side up or upside down. Below that is my contribution - a scene of a geisha being attacked by a demon. I really need to end my geisha fetish, and maybe this will be the pinnacle of it before it dies down some.

Either way, I think it's a great project. I hope he sends it to the band.

Majorette (In the Making)

A while back I found the this label and fell in love with the type that was rendered on it. I decided that it would become a personal endeavor of mine to flush out the entirety of this alphabet (A-Z upper and lower case). Unfortunately because it is an oblique set of letterforms, it's proving a bit trickier.

However, I have two letters sketched out so far, and I'm looking to continue exploring this endeavor when more time presents itself for it.

Photomanipulation 1.o

I took a stock photo of a random swamp shot in daylight, a picture of Ville Valo (H.I.M.) with wings that was overexposed, and several stock photos of bonfires.

Four and a half hours later, this is what I got. I thought the cigarette was a nice touch.

I basically had to recreate his hands and his left (your right) arm (hence why there are no tattoos) because the original scan totally cut his arm to the shoulder.

Created in Photoshop CS2 in an attempt to get to the level of Asterik. I'm really proud of it!
